The mission of EPA is to protect human health and the environment. EPA does research for science based decision making, administers federal laws protecting human health and the environment, establishes environmental policy, ensures that contaminated lands and toxic sites are cleaned up, and reviews chemicals in the marketplace for safety.

NOAA does research to understand and predict changes in climate, weather, oceans and coasts; share that knowledge and information with others; and conserves and manages coastal and marine ecosystems and resources.
