APA Citation Guide

Format

The following guidelines will help you to format your paper in APA style.

APA papers have three sections: title page, main body, and a references list.

In the APA 7th edition they make the distinction between formatting papers for students and for professional papers (papers that will be published). Below are the formatting guidelines to use for APA 7th edition. Be sure that you know what your instructor is requesting in regards to formatting for your paper. Or if your instructor has requested something different than the typical format guidelines, use your instructor's request.

  1. Set your margins to one inch
  2. Set your spacing to double (2.0)
  3. Create a title page
  4. Add page numbers on the right side of the header
  5. Include a references list
