Turabian/Chicago Style's basic documentation systems

In Turabian/Chicago Style, there exists two basic documentation systems:

  • Notes and bibliography - bibliographic information in notes and/or the bibliography.  Very accommodating for unique or unusual resources. Most commonly used in: Humanities, literature, history, and the arts.
  • Author-date - sources are briefly cited (in text), and more thorough in the bibliography. Most commonly used in: Physical, Natural & Social Sciences.
