Below is the first page of results from a sample keyword search--depression and elderly and treatment--let's say we are research how to treat depression in the elderly. Please notice in the upper left corner,  it tells you that you are searching the Doña Ana Community College Library. If you are off-campus you can sign in now, or wait until you find something you are interested in.

Just under the yellow sign in bar, you can see we are looking at the first page of over 200,000 results. And on the left side are "limiters", ways you can narrow your results to show only materials available online, from books or peer reviewed journals. etc..

Next lets look at the actual result list. First it tells you what kind of item it is, an article, a book, an ebook, etc..Item #1 is an article from German language journal, and it is available online.

Immediately below is Item #8 on the result list. It is a book available online, so it is an ebook. Click on the title to see what we call the item record.

It tells you what the item is, provides icons to email, print, get a citation, or a link back to this exact item, called a permalink, and provides the link to the full-text. If you are off-campus, and have not yet logged in with your NMSU credentials yet, you will be prompted to do so before you can see the full-text.

And the last part of the item record tells you more about it, to so you can decide if it will be helpful in your research.
